A short blog on:  Practicing Righteousness, Part #1

God wants us to stay in right standing with Him and this is called "Practicing Righteousness".

The meaning or definition of righteousness is right standing with God.  Everyday we need to self reflect and make sure we are not practicing sin, and also to repent when we do sin. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to convict us when we do sin.

Here are some scriptures on Practicing Righteousness:

We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. - 1 John 5:18 (NKJV)  (This is the basics of spiritual warfare. When we keep ourself from sin we are saying no to the devil and essentialy he cannot touch us menatally our spiritually).

Side Note: The ESV version Bible says: " We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning..." I wanted to add in because that I like how this version puts an emphasis on "does not keep on sinning"

If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him." - 1 John 2:29 (ESV)

"Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous." - 1 John 3:7 ESV

"For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 5:20 ESV  (The Pharisees only pretended to love and know God, but they really had evil hearts. Basically they were fake.)

"So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." -2 Timothy 2:22 ESV
